The purpose of Cisse Niass Project’s Tutoring Program is to provide highly effective, research-based educational support to Georgia’s students. In 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was passed by Congress and replaced the No Child Left Behind Act. According to Richard Woods, Georgia’s School Superintendent, a Georgia State ESSA Plan was submitted on Friday, September 29, 2017 to the United States Department of Education (USED). Woods (2017) explained that the Georgia’s State ESSA Plan addresses the “whole child” and is “a cohesive and aligned plan ……and supports our vision of offering a holistic education to each and every child in the state” (http://www.gadoe.org). 

 

According to the U.S. Department of Education less than 15% of students who need tutoring can access tutoring services.  CNP’s tutoring program aims to reach students and support Georgia Department of Education’s (GDOE) (2017) goal of “providing a holistic education to all children.” Our tutors provide support services for youth and families by assisting students with homework or concepts students are having difficulty with. The emphasis will be on study skills, math, reading, writing, science and other subjects. We pledge to provide a full range of tutoring services to all children.
