A Few Tips to Improve Your Health

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (World Health Organization, 1948). Good health is a necessary tool to live a happy and thriving life. Maintaining good health is essential! What if I told you that you could improve your health almost unconsciously by doing a few things that you really enjoy regularly? Sometimes it can become overwhelming trying to incorporate an entirely new schedule such as meal planning, daily exercising, etc. By starting with some basic key aspects of your life you can make a continual difference in your overall health. What you must do is live to enjoy life, not to just get through the day or the week. All you have is this life, and the best way to enjoy it is with optimal health.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH

Consider that once you start, you’re not going to want to stop. It’s important to remain consistent with life. Three major aspects to consider with good health are physical activity, mental activity, and spiritual activity. There should always be a healthy balance with each area. Find an activity that you absolutely love, that you can do regularly, whether its dancing or taking a family walk around the neighborhood after dinner. Stay active! Studies suggest that regular activity will allow the body to function properly, keeping diseases such as diabetes and hypertension away (The Nutrition Source, 2018). Engage in activities that stimulate your brain, reading, writing, board games, and creating arts and crafts. Switch up your go-to mind development task, you want to explore life not get bored with it. Aligning yourself spiritually with what you feel most connected to will also help your over health, especially your mental health. A simple task like listening to personal development series, jazz music, meditating, yoga and prayer are all ways to stimulate the spiritual you. Make a conscious effort to change the time of day that you do the things you love so that it is most beneficial to you. Start your day with your spiritual task, then move into your mental task and make sure to get your physical task done at some point of the day. A spiritual task can help prepare you for your day. Mental tasks are better to do early in the day and it’s best to do physical activity when you have the energy to do it. Just get it done!

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE, BESIDES YOUR HEALTH?

With optimal health, you can do what some people can’t, due to health deficiencies. Your health is greater than wealth if you lose your health nothing else will matter except your focus to regain your health. Don’t fall victim to health issues that you can prevent now. We cannot control every aspect of our health, and some things are truly out of our control. However, we must do our part to continue to be apart of this life. Joyce Meyer once said, “The greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you”. Get active and stay active.
