CNP APPROACH TO SCHOOLS
How many times have you looked at a situation and said, “I want to help. I think we can do better” (Tough, 2017). Why and how can we help schools provide best quality solutions in mental health, tutoring and advising? Currently there are more than 15 million American children living below the poverty line, and almost 7,000,000 of them are living in deep poverty with family incomes less than $12,000 a year for a family of four. These children live in disruptive families, in neighborhoods with concentrated family poverty, and face daily psychologically and physical dangers. Schools that these children attend are more likely to have teachers who are less well-trained and less experienced than teachers at other schools. We can help schools make changes in these children’s lives that not only affect individual families and children, but also communities, and our nation.
HOW CAN WE HELP YOUR SCHOOL?
Cisse Niass Project pledges to help schools by providing support to children in the areas of mental health, tutoring, and advising. We will achieve these goals with the help of certified teachers, mental health professionals, and advisors who can identify areas of concern and weakness while supporting the child academically with tutoring. Tough (2017), believes that to effectively intervene in the lives of disadvantaged children there needs to be fundamental changes in the areas of policies, practices, and thinking. Cisse Niass Project is dedicated to changing children’s lives by the practices of providing advising, mental health support, and tutoring in their areas of weaknesses and strengths. We believe we can change the trajectory of children living in poverty with different positive interventions at different points in the continuum of children’s lives and education.
