ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL
Traditionally, schools identify children’s cognitive skills with standardized testing, nonetheless, non-cognitive skills such as curiosity, self-control and grit have not been customarily identified in children. Innovative research clearly indicates novel strategies must be employed to efficaciously aid children who are experiencing adversity. Researchers including neuroscientists, economists and psychologists believe the afore-mentioned non-cognitive skills are developed in a child’s environment. Schools, however, focus primarily on increasing children’s cognitive skills. Unfortunately, for many children living in adverse home environments, non-cognitive skills may never develop.
Cisse Niass Project believes in a holistic approach to students’ success. We embrace the philosophy of helping children persevere and we are devoted to developing these non-cognitive skills. Cisse Niass Project provides certified mental health professionals with the sole purpose of addressing students’ mental health needs and increasing academic achievement.
