food PANTRY project
Cisse Niass Food Pantry is dedicated to providing meals to the needy. We plan to provide 3 meals every day of the year. Our mission is to involve, educate and unite people in the work of ending hunger in Kahone and Kaolack, Senegal. Our vision is a hunger-free Senegal!
who we help?
We help children, elderly men and women and orphans. These are people who have no other way of eating every day.
We feed 42 orphans daily. We also feed 250 families annually which have an average of 6 people per family. We feed an average of $1,542 people annually. Our comprehensive goals are to ensure that every man, woman and child enjoy their Right to Adequate Food; women are empowered; priority is given to family farming; and food systems in Senegal are sustainable and resilient.
OUR IMPACT
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We buy food at the markets with donations. We buy charcoal for fuel and volunteers prepare the food fresh daily as there are no refrigerators. When the food is ready the volunteers go, and gather the beneficiaries so they may eat.
OUR PROJECT IN ACTION 2018
